Hello my friends!
I know what you’re thinking…I don’t post nearly enough on here. Well here is something cool that I have been up to!
Last week I visited the city of Magog, Quebec with the love of my life. She and I traveled to Fitch Bay, a beautiful place that is home to Bleu Lavande, a lavender farm nestled in Fitch Bay, Quebec.
This place is truly magical, and I would highly recommend everyone take a trip here at least once in your life. The aroma in the air is intoxicating, the scent of lavender as well as all the other smells wafting through the summer air.
We started our day by taking a stroll through the lavender fields. We admired various cultivars of Lavender and them took some pictures of the Monarch butterflies drinking the lavender nectar. They must have felt so relaxed!
After we relaxed awhile in a gigantic chair in the middle of the lavender field, we explored the gift shop and bought some lavender gifts for friends and family. Among these were lavender chocolate, lavender essential oil, and lavender duck confit.
Soon after we made our way over to get a couples massage. This was just as amazing as it sounds. Laying in an open field, getting a massage with lavender oils, breathing in all the aromas. Heavenly.
We also got the chance to explore the distillation equipment where lavender hydrosol and essential oils are made. This was a fun and educational experience…I have made hydrosol before but it was on a smaller unit.
On a final note, I wanted to comment on the medicinal value of this plant. Many people are aware that lavender is a nervine, being valued for its calming effects on the nervous system. People may also know that lavender is a fairly powerful antimicrobial agent that is used in household cleaners, air fresheners, etc. But not as many people are aware of Lavender as a carminative. In fact, I am surprised at the number of people who are not familiar with the word “Carminative”.
Carminative is a class of herb that is helpful for digestive upset. It aids in digestion, helping alleviate gas and boating. Many of the aromatic herbs are valuable carminatives: fennel, coriander, caraway, cumin, peppermint, the list goes on an on. Many people would be relieved of many of their ailments if they simply added some carminatives herbs to their daily routine.
If you ever have the chance, please visit this amazing place.
