Peony Root is alterative, antispasmodic, and a hepatic tonic. It is slightly cold and bitter. It has affinities for the uterus, liver, blood and skin. It is traditionally used for menstrual irregularity and menstrual cramping. It is nourishing to the blood and a tonic to the liver.
