Wild Cherry Bark is a classic antitussive herb that makes its way into numerous cough syrups and herbal tea blends. According to Michael Tierra: “Wild Cherry Bark calms the respiratory nerves, allays coughs and asthma. It is also excellent for digestive weakness including ulcers, gastritis, colitis, diarrhea and dysentary”. (pp. 206 The Way of Herbs) He also tells us that this particular herb is best prepared with a cool water overnight infusion and then warmed up slightly.
