Propolis is a resin produced by honey bees that is used in the process of building their hives. The word literally means “for the health of the city” and indeed it does keep the beehive clean and protected from bacteria and viruses. It is collected when there is an excess and has been found to be a highly useful herbal medicine for fighting infections, boosting the immune system and treating wounds. Propolis has been found to be a strong antibacterial, antimicrobial, antifungal, antiviral, and antimicrobial. It is commonly used in throat sprays for sore throats and to stave off illnesses. It can be used topically on cuts, wounds and rashes. It is indicated for bronchitis, pneumonia, and other respiratory infections. Propolis is also used in making salves, tinctures, syrups, and other herbal medicine products. It is highly revered and a very potent product that comes from our bee friends!
